Create your very own, one of a kind, winter white village with these charming handmade snow folk. I doubt I will have time to make any more this year, so my 2011 collection is very limited. Each item has a paper label on the bottom with the title and is signed and dated. These items will also be listed in my Etsy shop so if one sells there, I will mark it sold here.

~ SNOW ANGELS on Candy Container Boxes ~

Peace and Joy are ready to bring just that to your home ~ Peace & Joy! Wrapped in vintage cotton quilt batting and accessorized with pleated crepe paper, old mother of pearl buttons, and old-fashioned, tarnished, silver tinsel, these heavenly creations will be the perfect addition to your winter decor. I took apart the tinsel to make delicate strands for their wispy scarves. Peace and Joy are about 7 1/4" tall including the candy containers. The paper mache boxes do open and may be used to store wrapped candy or any little trinkets and treasures that you collect. Because of the glass glitter on these angels, please do not store unwrapped candy in the boxes. The angels are permanently affixed to the lids. Their hand painted features (eyes, nose, and mouth) are brown for a less harsh look. Although not shown, there about 2 dozen birds punched from vintage Christmas sheet music in each container.

~ JACK ~

Jack is one of the two snowmen available and is the sidekick to Frost (seen next). He is about 8" tall and is attached to a white wooden base that has been covered with sparkling glass glitter. His coat is made from vintage cotton quilt batting and is embellished with old-fashioned, tarnished, silver tinsel. The cloak is fastened with an antique mother of pearl button. His top hat is made from vintage Christmas sheet music and has been dusted with glass glitter. Jack holds in holds arms a faux feather tree sprig that I made from vintage crepe paper. Jack's features have been painted brown instead of the usual black that is normally used for snowmen.

~ FROST ~

Frost is Jack's mentor. He has been teaching Jack the tricks of the snowman trade for several centuries. Frost won't admit it, but Jack petty much has it down pat, but as long as Jack needs a mentor, Frost has a buddy to hand around with... and everyone needs a friend, right? Frost is 9" tall and is attached to a white, wooden base that has been covered with glass glitter. He is also dressed with vintage cotton quilt batting that has been embellished with old-fashioned, tarnished, silver tinsel. His antique, mother of pearl button closure is just a bit larger than Jack's. Frost also carries a faux feather tree twig which doubles as a walking stick when he and Jack traipse through the deep winter snow.

~ OLD WORLD BELSNICKEL with Spun Cotton Dove & Faux Feather Tree ~

Inspired by the Belsnickels and Father Christmases of the 1800s, this wintry white gentleman has a kind soul and is partial to God's creatures. He is 11" tall and is permanently attached to a white beveled wooden base. His robe is made from vintage cotton quilt batting and is trimmed with old fashioned, tarnished, silver tinsel. His head and shoulders are made of cotton, stuffed, and hand painted. His beard and mustache are needle-felted sheep's wool. I made a faux feather tree from vintage crepe paper and perched a little, vintage, spun cotton dove on one of the branches. The middle tree stems my be positioned so that the tree is flat or dimensional (see photos 1 and 2 for the different looks).

~ OLD WORLD BELSNICKEL with Vintage Wax Lamb & Faux Feather Tree ~

Inspired by the primitive, folk art, and Victorian Belsnickel, Father Christmas, and Santa dolls of the 1800s, this wintry white gentleman has a kind soul and is partial to God's creatures. He is 9" tall and is permanently attached to a white beveled wooden base. His robe is made from vintage cotton quilt batting and is trimmed with old fashioned, tarnished, silver tinsel. His head and shoulders are made of cotton, stuffed, and hand painted. His beard and mustache are needle-felted sheep's wool. I made a 5" tall faux feather tree from vintage crepe paper and millinery stamens for him to hold in his arms (as seen above), or you may remove it and let him hold the little lamb (see below). The lamb is a petite 1 1/2" tall. I have attached a paper label on the bottom of the base which has the title, date, and my signature.

I'd like to introduce you to my newest Snow Angels, Glad & Merrie. Both of them are about 9" tall and are attached to a base covered with vintage Christmas sheet music and sparkly mica flakes. Their heads are hand sculpted, painted, and covered with sparkling glass glitter. Their halos are not attached and may be positioned on their heads any way you wish. They are named, signed, and dated on the bottoms of the bases.

~ Penelope & Percival ~

These owls will certainly put a bit of folk art whimsy in your fall decor! This design is loosely based on a whimsical owl watercolor I did earlier this year. I made this set out of muslin and painted them with acrylics in shades of tan, taupe, gray, sepia, cream and brown. Sanding helped to achieve the old, worn look. They have a loop on the back for hanging wherever you wish. The loop can easily be snipped off if you prefer to sit them on a shelf. These owls are approximately 8" tall. Signed and dated Lana Manis 2011.

~ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~
